Oh, Sweet Life! I wonder, whether the sweet life exists or not? By Shahin Abasov “Two women have visited our camp last spring. They told us that they are representing some organization and want to identify talented teenager boys and girls with special acting technique. They had ID cards with the name of organization they represent, but the name was too long and it was kind of difficult to remember it. They were saying that they would take very talented children to Baku and create all possible conditions for them, additionally providing high education through the financial support of their organization. They were such nice and pleasant women…They had nice and elegant wears and we could smell their perfumes. While talking with my friend about these ladies, we were comparing them with our teachers, relatives and wishing to see them as nice looking and well dressed as these visitors! Three people have become winners of the competition. For some reason, none of the boys were selected. Winners were me, my friend and one other girl whom we call “Demy Moore”. Originally, we had to go to Baku for the period of four months, in order to pass through another test, and then our documents would be taken from school to the relevant people. My friend was so happy…In any case, upon graduation from school her grand mom would propose her to somebody as a wife just to get rid off her. Nevertheless, I had such a feeling that my parents would not give their consent and it happened that way. I hated them so much for that. I begged one of these ladies to talk to my parents and get their permission for me, but somehow she did not do that. I was even ready to commit suicide. But anyway, my friend and I came to an agreement that she would let me know as soon as she is well set in a new location and then, I would escape and join her in there. After some period of time, I started thinking that she betrayed me too. I have heard that her documents have been taken from school, meaning that, she might pass through the exam and her condition supposed to be well set by now. But from the other side, I can’t believe that my friend does not want to give any message about herself. I had a confidence that there would certainly be news from her. After thinking about all these things over and over, I started suspecting this business, because numerous times I have heard that, usually young teenager girls are kidnapped, sold or tortured. This is such a heartbreaking feeling….I still have the view of her nice face in front of my eyes” This was the piece from the “memories notebook” of 15 years old girl residing in refugee camp. Dear readers, You may call it the illusive fantasy of 15 years old girl, but we do not know it either. But let’s face it that it is more close to reality too. There is a bit of truth in it, since those kind of staff combated at the government level and brought to the discussion in National Parliament. We will go back to this topic again more soon. We will conduct assessments on it; will seek for concrete facts, will highlight the positions and suggestions of police authorities on this matter and go back to you again. Let’s start discussion on this topic right away. What would you do if you were in place of that girl or her friend? We will write down what needs to be done. However, it would be nice to hear from you first. Please, share with us your ideas, thoughts and the facts that you get. Dear teachers and parents, please join the discussions too. Don’t let your small-age children and teenager boys and girls fall into criminal’s hands. Let’s open up a big discussion with each and everyone’s involvement. We are ready for that.
